How do blackout curtains work?
- Almost zero light transmission: Our curtains meet all recommendations for quality sleep. You will be able to enjoy a peaceful and undisturbed rest even during the day.
- Insulation against noise and heat: This fabric is also excellent at dampening noise and preventing heat transfer into the room. This makes the curtains especially useful on hot summer days, when the curtain can keep your room a few degrees cooler.
How do I configure my own customised curtain?
All of our blackout curtains are made to measure in our Czech Stofex sewing workshops.
Step One: Selecting a curtain attachment.
We offer a total of 3 curtain attachment options:
Curtain clips
- Only the overall hemming of the curtain
- The width of the hem is 2 cm
Universal gathering tape
- Sewing the curtain + sewing the universal strapping tape, which has a height of 6 cm
- Includes lanyards that make it easy to shake the curtain evenly and easily
- Use the strapping tape to attach the curtain in two ways:
- Hook and loop fastening in three height levels (2, 4 or 5 cm)
- Attachment to a bar with a maximum diameter of 25 mm
Tunnel
- Sew on the curtain (hem width is 2 cm) and sew on a tunnel with dimensions:
- 8 cm – maximum rod diameter 4 cm
- 10 cm – maximum rod diameter 5 cm
- 12 cm – maximum rod diameter 6 cm
Step Two: Select the dimensions of the curtain.
For best functionality and appearance, we recommend that you base the length of the curtain on the width of your window and order a curtain 50% longer. This means that if you have a 1 metre wide window, we recommend ordering a 1.5 metre long curtain.
Last step: note and add to cart.
In the last step you can write us a note. Also, keep in mind that if you want two curtains (one on each side of the window), you can choose 2 pieces of curtain. Either in the shopping cart or directly when selecting the product. That being said, all of our curtains are made to measure, meaning that the sewing time can be 10-14 days and it is not possible to return this curtain within the 14 day period.

This simple pattern is always true! To our blackout curtains we recommend our stunning sheer curtains, which you can also configure to your liking. They are perfect as a complement to the curtains. When you want to bring some light into the room, but also want to shade the room slightly.
